"This is Not It | Dig Deep Week 3"
Day 1: God's Unwavering Love in the Midst of Exile
Reading: Jeremiah 29:1-14
Devotional: In times of exile and displacement, God's love remains constant. Just as He spoke to the Israelites in Babylon, God speaks to us in our own "exiles" - whether they be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Reflect on the beautiful promise in Jeremiah 29:11. How does knowing that God has plans to prosper you and not to harm you change your perspective on current struggles? Consider areas in your life where you feel "exiled" and invite God's love and hope into those spaces.
Day 2: Building on the Solid Foundation
Reading: Luke 6:46-49
Devotional: Jesus teaches us about the importance of not just hearing His words, but putting them into practice. This is what it means to "dig deep" and build our lives on a solid foundation. In what areas of your life do you find it challenging to apply Jesus' teachings? Reflect on how you can move from merely listening to actively living out your faith. Ask God for the strength and wisdom to align your actions with His Word, especially in the face of life's storms.
Day 3: Finding Hope in the Aftermath
Reading: Romans 8:18-28
Devotional: Paul reminds us that our present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed. In the aftermath of life's storms, it's easy to focus on the destruction. But God promises to work all things for good for those who love Him. How can you shift your focus from the "aftermath" to the hope of God's promises? Reflect on past difficulties where you've seen God's goodness emerge. Ask Him to give you eyes to see His work in your current circumstances.
Day 4: The Promise of Renewal
Reading: Revelation 21:1-7
Devotional: John's vision of the new heaven and new earth reminds us that our current struggles are temporary. God promises a future where there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain. How does this eternal perspective impact how you view your present challenges? Meditate on the promise that God makes all things new. Ask Him to renew your spirit and give you a foretaste of the joy and peace to come.
Day 5: Christ's Presence in Our Troubles
Reading: John 16:25-33
Devotional: Jesus doesn't promise us a trouble-free life, but He does promise His presence and ultimate victory. Reflect on Jesus' words: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." How can you cultivate a deeper awareness of Christ's presence in your daily life, especially during difficult times? Ask the Holy Spirit to make you more sensitive to His "nudges" and guidance. Thank Jesus for His promise of peace that surpasses all understanding.
