Write It Down | Let It Be Week 5
Day 1: Writing Your Prayers
Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-19
Devotional Thought: In Paul's epistle to the Ephesians, he demonstrates the power of writing prayers. By committing his thoughts and intentions to paper, Paul offers a prayer that has transcended time, speaking to us today. Writing down your prayers can help you maintain focus and clarity, allowing God to be the first thought on your mind rather than an afterthought.
Challenge: Spend 10 minutes today writing a prayer. Begin by reflecting on God’s love and power, as Paul did, and write whatever comes to your heart. Trust that God will inspire the words you write.
Prayer: Lord, help me commit my deepest thoughts and desires to You in a written form. May these prayers be a testimony of Your eternal presence in my life. Amen.
Day 2: Drawing or Painting Your Prayers
Scripture: Psalm 150:3-6
Devotional Thought: We’re called to praise God with all that we are—even through creative expressions like art. The Psalms themselves were often sung alongside music and likely inspired visual representations in the temple. Let your creativity be an offering to God.
Challenge: Dedicate time today to draw or paint something as a form of prayer. It might be a cross, a landscape, or whatever imagery God places on your heart. Let this act of creation be a conversation with God.
Prayer: Creator God, guide my hand as I express my love for You through art. May each stroke be a prayer of gratitude and worship. Amen.
Day 3: Journaling in the Margins
Scripture: Proverbs 3:3
Devotional Thought: Consider the importance of binding God's commandments around your heart and writing them on the tablet of your mind. Journaling in your Bible or using a separate journal helps internalize scripture as you reflect and interact with the Word.
Challenge: Use a journaling Bible or notebook and write your thoughts and prayers as you read a passage. Note your reflections, questions, and praises that arise during this devotional time.
Prayer: Father, as I journal, may Your wisdom flow into my heart and mind, engraving Your truths within me. Amen.
Day 4: Texting or Typing Your Prayers
Scripture: Philippians 1:3-5
Devotional Thought: Paul often communicated with others through letters, expressing his prayers and gratitude for them. Today, technology offers another way to connect spiritually with others through text or digital communication.
Challenge: Send a written prayer via text or email to someone who needs encouragement today. Decide on meaningful, intentional words that uplift and inspire faith.
Prayer: Gracious God, direct my words and lift the spirit of those I reach out to today. Use my messages as a conduit of Your love and encouragement. Amen.
Day 5: Emoji Prayers
Scripture: Psalm 95:1-2
Devotional Thought: Just like ancient hymns expressed emotions and stories of faith, even modern tools like emojis can help express our thoughts and feelings. Approach this with creativity and openness, allowing your heart to guide you.
Challenge: Construct a prayer using emojis that convey your praise and thankfulness to God. Consider sharing it with someone who'll appreciate the unique expression of faith.
Prayer: Almighty God, You know my heart even when words fail. May these symbols be as meaningful as any spoken utterance, glorifying Your name. Amen.
Reflect on how these practices deepen your prayer life and see God’s influence in diverse forms of communication. Let it be a journey of faith and creativity, reminding you of God's omnipresence in all expressions of prayer.
